Vicent Rutagangibwa is an engineering educator and researcher with over 13 years of experience, committed to advancing Engineering Education. He has served in leadership roles, including Head of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and currently coordinates Industrial Internships within the faculty. In this role, Vicent fosters strong university-industry collaborations, ensuring impactful experiential learning for engineering students.
His research interests include enhancing professional skills among engineering students, designing effective academia-industry educational interventions, improving student assessments, and facilitating smooth school-to-work transitions. Vicent is an active member of IEEE, ASEE, and the Engineering Education Research Network (EERN) for Africa, collaborating to elevate Engineering Education across Africa and beyond.
He holds a Master’s in Engineering (Electronics and Communications Engineering) from Gujarat Technological University, India, and a Bachelor’s in Telecommunications Engineering from Kyambogo University, Uganda. As an Assistant Lecturer at MUST, Vicent also leads research projects in energy and technology, including AI-based energy monitoring and optimization. His passion lies in integrating innovative teaching methodologies and work-based learning to shape the future of engineering education.
