The University Engineer is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the university’s physical infrastructure. This role involves ensuring that the university’s facilities are safe, functional, and compliant with all applicable codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facility Planning and Design: Develop and implement long-term facility plans to support the university’s academic, research, and administrative needs.
- Construction Management: Oversee the planning, design, and construction of new facilities and renovations.
- Maintenance and Operations: Manage the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the university’s facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all facilities are safe and compliant with applicable building codes, fire codes, and other regulations.
- Sustainability: Promote sustainable practices in the design, construction, and operation of university facilities.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the engineering department’s budget.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and tradespeople.
